A vertical collector is inserted vertically in the ground. The depth and quality of boreholes required depends on the heat required for the property and the type of ground.

Benefits

Taking energy from the ground

GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMPS

Heat Pumps extract energy from the ground by using a vertical or horizontal ground loop collector.

Horizontal collector

A series of plastic pipes are laid horizontally in the

ground to form a ground loop collector. The pipes will be buried to a depth of 1.2m and the amount of pipework required depends on the type of ground.

  • Reduce your Carbon Emissions -A GSHP could save 1.8 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year.
  • Cut down on wasted electricity - heating with a GSHP is much more efficient than heating with radiators.
  • Reduce your fuel bills - no need to pay for gas, oil or solid fuels, only nominal electricity.

Vertical collector

A fully detailed geological survey will be required to

assess the size of the ground loop collector for either a vertical or horizontal system.
